Vision
At Knightlow, our shared vision is for everyone to reach their full potential in all things.
The message to each individual is to
Let your light shine(Matthew 5:16)
Our Vision Statement
At Knightlow, our vision is for everyone to shine.
We believe that every child is wonderfully made and called to live ‘life in all its fullness.’ Our ambition is for each child to flourish into the person God created them to be. We want our Knightlow family to radiate kindness, acting with wisdom and compassion, becoming beacons of light for others.
Rooted in our Christian ethos, love is at the heart of all we do. We seek to build strong relationships within our community, inspiring and being inspired by the light in those around us. With a commitment to dignity and respect, we provide a safe, inclusive environment where children can grow academically, socially, and spiritually.
Through our rich and stimulating curriculum, we spark curiosity, ignite ambition and raise aspirations. We aim to illuminate paths of possibility, guiding our children towards lives of purpose and fulfilment.
At Knightlow, we give every child the confidence, capability, and conviction to ‘let their light shine.’
The metaphor of shining is a simple one for young children to understand and embrace and one that we felt encapsulates the importance of striving to be the very best that you can be, academically, personally and socially, utilising your God-given talents. As well as being accessible to all, we believe that it is easily embedded within daily interactions, making our vision firmly rooted in the every day life of the school.
Theologically rooted vision
Our vision is firmly rooted in the teachings of the Bible:
CREATION: God's plan is for all creation to flourish and for everyone, made in God's image, to be loved, valued, celebrated and represented.
LOVE: to know that God is love and a Christian community is recognised by the way it loves.
INCARNATION: Jesus came alongside people, modelling the love and support we should all give to others in both good and challenging times as we live "Life in all its fullness", just as Jesus promised.
TRINITY: We were made to live in community just as the Trinity is community and characterised by diversity.

Our Christian Ethos
We want everyone at Knightlow to live out our vision and to consider how they can shine as a 'way of being'. We strive to shine with our heart, our soul, our mind and our strength, following what Jesus says in Mark 12:30-31;
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
We focus on one aspect throughout each year, giving us time to study in depth the Christian values linked to the heart, soul, mind and strength. Please click on our Collective Worship 4-Yr Cycle for more information. (We are currently on Cycle A).
Our Guiding Lights
We also use the metaphor of light as a guide, to support our new behaviour expectations; our Guiding Lights:
We find that these three simple core statements are easy for each pupil to remember and respond to, as well as being broad enough to cover all eventualities.
Collective Worship
As well as supporting children to fulfil their potential academically, the school is passionate about developing children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) education too. One of the ways to achieve this is through Collective Worship and Class Worship.

Church Link
Our local church is All Saints in Stretton-on-Dunsmore and we visit regularly to mark special occasions and Christian festivals. All Saints is part of a busy Benefice of eight churches, working together with the Priest in Charge, Rev Phil, who is also one of our governors. All of the news and events in the Benefice are to be found at http://www.draycoteandleamvalleybenefice.com/

A light on the hill which cannot be hidden, which shines to give light to everyone in the village
Charity and Community
We think that it is important to be active members of the community, both local and global, supporting other people whenever we can and we have lots of opportunities to get involved in charity and community events.
We support a range of charities every year, by organising fundraising events for Macmillan Cancer Care, Royal British Legion, Children in Need and Comic Relief.
We also have close links with Grace Orphan Care in Malawi and raise funds every year to produce stories that go to support the children there to learn English. Each class produces collaborative stories within a shared theme. The children also illustrate their stories and together, this work is collated into a published book. We then have a spectacular Book Launch event every summer, where our parents, the mayor and other VIPs are entertained by our fabulous pupils retelling their creations through drama and song. As well as sending some of our books to Malawi, we raise money to support the orphanage with educational supplies so that they too can write their own stories. It is something that we are extremely proud of and such a valuable way for our pupils to play an active role in advocating for eduction for all.
